The Situation
A Palm Jumeirah villa had large sliding patio doors where the original latches had worn loose. The doors could be rattled in their tracks and, with a little effort, lifted slightly — a well-known vulnerability on sliding units that many owners never think about.
How We Approached It
We inspected the tracks and the existing latch hardware. The latches had worn to the point of barely engaging, and there was nothing preventing the panels from being lifted out of the track, which is how sliding doors are most often defeated.
