The Situation
A customer in Deira had snapped their key in the lock, leaving part of the blade wedged inside the cylinder. The remaining piece completely blocked the keyway, so the lock could not be operated at all, and previous attempts to pull it out with pliers had pushed it deeper.
How We Approached It
We assessed how far in the fragment sat and at what angle before touching it. Poking at a broken key with the wrong tool usually drives it further in or damages the wafers, turning a small extraction into a full lock replacement.
We used dedicated extraction tools to grip and withdraw the fragment along the keyway without disturbing the internal pins. With the cylinder clear, we inspected the mechanism for damage and cut a fresh key from the remaining half of the original.
The Result
